Biological rhythm is a periodic biological fluctuation in an organism that corresponds to and responds to periodic environmental change. Examples of such change include cyclical variations in the relative position of the Earth with respect to the Sun and Moon and in the immediate effects of such variations eg,.

The internal mechanism by which such a rhythmic phenomenon occurs and is maintained even in the absence of the apparent environmental stimulus is called the biological clock. When an animal operating in accordance with such a clock quickly moves to a geographical point where the environmental cycle is no longer synchronous with the animal's cycle, the clock continues for a time to operate synchronously with the original environmental cycle. Humans similarly transported over long distances often experience fatigue and decreased efficiency for several days, a phenomenon known as “jet lag” or jet syndrome. A lunar tide rhythm, the regular ebb and flow of oceans and very large internal bodies of water, subjects coastal plants and animals to a rhythmic change; usually two high and two low tides occur each day (approximately 24.8 hours). Many shorebird species exhibit this rhythm when foraging only when the beaches are exposed at low tide. Biological rhythms are mainly classified according to their function routine. They are classified into four types, namely circadian rhythms, diurnal rhythms, ultradian rhythms and infradian rhythms. The circadian rhythm lasts a 24-hour cycle and is responsible for physiological and behavioral changes such as sleeping, eating, etc. The daytime rhythms help to synchronize the day and night for the circadian rhythm, they are also awarded according to the tracks of the environment.

Ultradian rhythms last the shortest period at high frequency. Infradian rhythms last more than 24 hours. The best example of infradian rhythms is the menstrual cycle. Usually, mutation or changes in certain genes affect biological rhythms.

According to the NSF survey, only 63% of workers felt they had enough sleep. Often, exploring artificial lights during the night affects the body clock cycle. Limited scanning of electronic devices helps improve the healthy biological clock in humans. Shift work and the light of electronic devices also affect biological rhythms. Circadian rhythms describe biological phenomena that oscillate with a cycle of ≈24 hours.
